
The Course will run from March (date TBD) on an evening for 8 weeks at Hawstead Village Hall from 7:30 – 9:30 pm. It is then followed by dedicated apiary sessions directly the weather allows. The course includes the tuition, a course folder, a beekeeping handbook and membership of the West Suffolk and Suffolk Associations, BBKA membership and newsletter and one year’s insurance for up to 3 hives. The cost of the course in 2023 will be around £100 (to be confirmed). Partners may accompany at an additional cost of £50. If at the end of the course you would like to take up beekeeping we will help you to acquire your first bees and provide mentoring .

- Natural History
- Forage and Hive Products
- Swarming
- Pest and Diseases
- Hive Design and Woodworking
- Siting an Apiary and record keeping
- Health and Safety
