K T Brewster told us:

This is a relaxed, hands-on way to spend an evening with friends.

Honey ferments are a simple delicious, healthy way of preserving all sorts of foods, such as garlic, ginger, onion and chili.  You can then use both the food and honey syrup in your cooking. I love them in soups or on my porridge or yoghurt as well as making salad dressing and the ginger with a little whiskey goes extremely well. The workshop is for beginners with no previous experience of making ferments. We will make three ferments, with your own honey.

Things you need to bring:

  • One pound of honey, but a little more or less is okay, any type, runny or set,
  • At least two empty sterile lidded jars of similar size.
  • Small chopping board
  • Paring knife
  • Tea spoon x 3
  • You may want to bring a clean apron.
  •
There is usually a cost for this event but for this occasion the club will be underwriting this so it is free of charge to all members.
