Polinator Update with Nynke Blömer and WSBKA AGM

February 20 @ 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

After our brief AGM, Nynke Blömer of Cambridge University will be talking to us again, following up her talk last year on pollinators: there’ll be some results on the research work she’s done.

Please also see Carol’s message regarding the committee and AGM:

I expect that lots of people get put off by the officialese –  Agendas, Constitution, Officers, etc – but that is just the structure we use just like many other small organisations in the UK, being efficient and universally understood. I promise you, our meetings are as informal as those at the Victory Pavilion and the apiary: a group of friends making decisions in the interest of their flourishing club. There are currently eight of us, out of a possible thirteen. The club’s finances and bees are in excellent condition but can we be sure we’re acting in the best interests of our members? Hard to tell with, currently, only eight of us representing 200+. We meet four times a year in the evenings, usually at Rebecca’s home in Stanningfield but now we are also using Zoom, as we ‘d done during lockdown. There are six officers’ roles and an additional seven places available for anyone who wants to contribute their thoughts to the running of our flourishing club or take on extras such as the occasional newsletter, events management etc.  We could certainly do with younger members, to reflect the increase in newer members aged 25 – 40.
