Sharing Insights to 2024 Beekeeping in Suffolk
This is our first get-together since April 2024 and so much has happened in the intervening six months, with challenging weather in April, May, June and then a complete change around in parts of July and August. It feels like there is a lot to talk about and share between the membership and it will be fascinating to compare notes and experiences of what has gone well and what has been challenging to manage.
Format
The format of the meeting will consist of a panel of members who have a cross section of numbers of colonies and experience. It is not designed to be a panel of experts but of people who are prepared to share their experiences. Sandy Norman will facilitate the discussion between the panelists and shall be looking to members to also join in with questions and their own experiences and insights to share.
The members who have put their hands up to start off and speak in this open discussion format are:
Graham Sigley
Marika Sigley
Carol Williamson
Sylvia Pettit
Your Support
A big thank you in advance to the four of them for coming forward. I do think that the event should be directly relevant to us all and well supported; every member has a story to tell of this past season so I do look forward to seeing you.
Refeshments
Tea and Coffee will be available 19.00 to 19.30 and afterwards
Future Meetings 2024 2025
Most of the future meetings of the season will be held on the third Thursday of the month, but due to both speaker and hall availability there will be exceptions.
I do have a list of guest speakers nearly completed that will take us through to April 2025 which I shall publish shortly.
Venue
For those who have not been there before the full address is:
The Pavilion, Bury St Edmunds Cricket Club, The Victory Ground, Nowton Road, Bury St. Edmunds, IP33 2BT
What 3 Words: pool.preoccupied.airbase
The entrance is hidden by a hedge; turn in by the bus stop opposite South Lee School (left if coming out of Bury) and take the track hard on your left alongside the Tennis Courts and Sports Hall, where you will find parking. The pavilion is to the left of the Sports Hall: enter by the glass doors and our room s on the left ie overlooking the cricket pitches.
Finally, we will be taking a register of attendees, as in the olden days at Hawstead. This will help to give us some idea of what sort of members and non-members come to our talks which will help Sandy to make future arrangements. It’s also good practice in case there’s an emergency such as fire.
Hoping very much to see a good turnout on the night: plenty to share over a tea or coffee.
Regards
